3rd year and 4th year students of the School of Landscape Architecture (SoLA) at Lincoln University undertook a combined studio project. We used the LA+ Islands Competition brief and looked at ways we could understand and conceptualize, and in response design, an island-like place or concept.

In this course we use rapid design techniques, hybridizing methods, and mixed group/individual design stages to push design ideas. Throughout the 4 week studio, visiting professor Rudi Van Etteger (from Wageningen University) worked with the students to visualise their design process, while DesignLab tutors worked on ideation, the concept of ‘island-ness’ and keeping designing restless.
