Our Lab was engaged to undertake a design task in Kahurangi National Park. We were taken by members of Karamea’s Department of Conservation on our first visit, into an amazing natural limestone cave system. Working with a concept of extinction and nest protection, these caves were some of the final resting places of the Giant Moa and Haast Eagles, the largest birds to have roamed Aotearoa New Zealand.
Our team was lucky enough to see some sacred spots, including an underground moa crypt where thousands of Moa bones lie, and which have only been seen by a handful of people. Click here to see our project.
